As a result of watching Harry Potter Movie Series for 10 long years, Smallville TV series for 10 seasons and Peter Pan TV series and movies since childhood, I have come to realized that these three epic fictional characters have something in common. It’s not that I am growing older, maybe I have come to the point that I am more mature when watching shows like these.
Here are my top 5 list of things in common between Harry Potter,
Superman and Peterpan:
Similarity Number 1: Free Travel
Harry Potter
|
If there’s one place that Oil company wouldn’t want to do
business, it’s in the wizarding world of Harry Potter. Yes, I know he used
train to travel from London to Hogwarts, but it’s a magical train and I don’t
think it is using gasoline. Harry has traveled using a flying car, he disapparated
with Dumbledore, and transferred from
one place to another through a portkey. In Hogwarts, gasoline is not a necessity. There
are a lot of ways to travel without the need of it.
|
Superman (Clark Kent)
|
While cars and gasoline is needed in Clark Kent’s era in
Smallville, it is not a necessity for him. He can run as fast as bullet and he
can fly. So for him, car is definitely a nonsense thing human has ever
created.
|
Peter Pan
|
Peter Pan can fly as fast and as high as he want, so
needless to say he really doesn’t need a car or any transportation.
|
Similarity Number 2: Orphans
Our three epic heroes came from a very sad family life. They
however did not consider it a hindrance to survive and become a hero.
Harry Potter
|
His parents killed by Voldemort when he was still a baby. He
was raised by the Dursley’s, his uncle and aunt who did not really treat him
well.
|
Superman (Clark Kent)
|
His parent died when planet Krypton erupted. He was sent by
his father Jor-el to planet earth so he will survive. He was then found by
Martha and Jonathan Kent and raised him as a son.
|
Peter Pan
|
His mother died when he was three years old and he did not
see his father ever, so he was raised by his father’s rival Jimmy Hook which
later becomes Captain Hook, his greatest Nemesis in Neverlands.
|
Similarity Number 3: Zombies
You can’t believe it? Yes, if you are going to trace down
their stories, they all died and live again, so they’re zombies. No, not bad
zombies though. But yeah, they rose from death.
Harry Potter
|
Lord Voldemort killed him by an epic “Avada Kedabra” spell,
but he live and killed Voldemort instead.
|
Superman (Clark Kent)
|
Despite possessing the greatest power on earth and being
invincible, Clark Kent has experienced death. He was once shot to death by a kryptonite
bullet, but Jor-El’s artificial intelligence version brought him to life again.
|
Peter Pan
|
Captain Hook’s lover stabbed him when he was still a
powerless and an ordinary normal kid. But Tinkerbell help him live again, and
it is with his second life that he acquired the power to fly.
|
Similarity Number 4: Lovelife Complexity
Just because you are odd and weirdo doesn’t mean you stay
out of the limelight of love. Like any other creation, Harry Potter, Superman
and Peter Pan have their own love stories. Let’s peek into it right now:
Harry Potter
|
Remember Cho Chang? A girl who broke every teenage girl’s
heart when he kissed him? But sadly, it’s Ron’s sister Ginney Weasley ended up
as Harry Potter’s wife.
|
Superman (Clark Kent)
|
Lana Lang. Anyone? Sexy, pretty and head turner. She’s Clark
Kent’s girlfriend, oh actually ex- girlfriend slash ex-wife. While they love each
other’s so much, their relationship is
on the rough road because of Clark’s real personality, or should I say,
alienanity. So he ended up with Lois Lane.
|
Peter Pan
|
Tiger Lily, the 100 years old daughter of the chief of
Indian tribe of Neverlands. But nothing happened between them, it’s Wendy who
is the real love interest of Peter Pan.
|
Similarity Number 5: Aliens
They may be walking along with other earth people, but they
definitely do not belong here.
Harry Potter
|
Yes, he grew up in London together with the Muggles, but he
found out later on that he is not an ordinary human. He is a wizard and he must
go to Hogwarts, the place where he really belongs.
|
Superman (Clark Kent) |
Needless to say that he is from the planet Krypton. He may
look like a human, even more good looking than human, but he is an alien from
another planet.
|
Peter Pan
|
Neverland is his place. But like any of us, he is just an
ordinary boy a long long time ago. As Neverlands is his destiny, he could not
turn his back to the place where he really belongs.

I don’t know why I have come up with this list. But one thing I know, that we are all interconnected with each other. We may have different powers, skills, abilities and whatever, but somehow, we have the same story.

nice analysis.. They're cute zombies if I must say...
ReplyDeletewow that was fast, good luck!!
ReplyDeletelol...cross finger..I hope this entry will win..I really want that 1TB Portable Hard Drive
ReplyDeleteThis is a very good comparison of a three super heroes by a keen movie enthusiast like you. You're meticulous when movie review is concerned as far as I know. That's your skill. Anybody could follow it, equal it the way you present the similarities, but they couldn't surpass or go beyond your ability to discern details, features and unique attributes of a super hero character like Harry Potter, Clark Kent, Peter Pan.
ReplyDeleteVery well explained. Nice film analysis. I didn't realized some of these until now.

very obvious that you've been watching their films, i like the three of them too, you've made a very good observation and analysis, cheers to the 3 super heroes hehe
ReplyDeletenever thought of those similarities before except for the obvious one - being orphans...
ReplyDeletehope u win the 1TB HD!
Wow. I am a fan of Harry Potter. Anyway, your post made me laugh and just realized it was all true. Hahaha. Wish I can fly too just like them. Hahaha.
ReplyDeletewell done! I just realized the similarities of those 3 upon reading this post. Very nice post! :)
ReplyDeleteHaha!
ReplyDeleteThis is a cool idea! I have never thought that these three characters have that similarities per se. I think it's a cliche used on movies. A hero despite an orphan will prove to the world he could be something worthy of praise. And of course that love complexity makes him more appealing.
quite interesting point of views... but sana nga ganun kadali... hahaha... i'm entertained... thanks a lot... Yahweh bless.
ReplyDeletekinda laughing on the zombies part.
ReplyDeletegreat observations, I think marami pang iba halos ganito rin set up
ReplyDeleteYou're good in analysis and movie review, huh? It's pretty ridiculous but it's true:) <3
ReplyDeleteThis is interesting. I guess people just react better if their heroes have these types of characteristics. They can relate to the move and put themselves in the characters shoes.
ReplyDeleteIt goes back to that 'what if' moment.
Like me they're orphans:(
ReplyDeleteGENIUS!!!
ReplyDeleteAfter more than a month of reading and putting scores on each entry, FINALLY! Check my blog for the list of winners. Salamat sa paglahok at pagsuporta sa aking munting patimpalak. :)
